Burgundy &Franche-Comté
The Fleur de Lys is the most impeccably appointed barge in the world, with a gracious elegance and amenities that epitomize the concept of ultimate luxury. The Fleur de Lys (and her sister-ship, the Amaryllis) are the only two canal barges that can boast heated swimming pools.
Built in 1941 and converted in 1986. The Fleur de Lys is a charter barge that may also be booked to travel in tandem with other barges. She cruises the Cote d’Or, Burgundy, Franche Comté and Saône.
The Fleur de Lys cruises the classic Burgundy route bordering France’s famous Côte d’Or – composed of the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune – where the legendary wines that are permitted to bear the Grands Crus and Premiers Crus labels can be discovered. You’ll recognize names like Meursault, Montrachet, Gevrey-Chambertin, Clos de Vougeot, Pomard and Santenay and sample wines that are rarely available outside the borders of France.
Fleur de Lys cruises some of the most picturesque waterways in France, including the river Saône and the Canal due Centre (built 1783-1791 to link the Loire and Saône rivers). The towns and villages visited enroute include Beaune, Dijon, St Jean de Losne, Chalon-sur-Saône and Dole.
