Joigny to Nemours

Sunday, DAY 1 Joigny

We meet at a designated hotel in Paris at 2:00 p.m. and then transfer to the Absolute2, moored in Joigny. After a welcome drink and an introduction to the barge, there is time to take a walk through the medieval streets of this old market town, before our first dinner onboard. 

Monday, DAY 2 Joigny to Villeneuve-sur-Yonne

Morning cruise to Villeneuve-sue-Yonne, home of Louis XIII and French actress Leslie Caron. We lunch by the quay. A short drive takes us to the wine area of Chablis. Here we visit the town before pausing for a private tour and wine tasting at a family run 11th century cellar.

Tuesday, DAY 3 Villeneuve-sur-Yonne to Sens

We enjoy a morning cruise on to the river town of Sens. We visit the beautiful 11th century masterpiece that is St Etienne Cathedral and Museum, which features an impressive collection of Gallo-Roman antiquities, and Napoleon’s hat. Sens is a great town to walk around and enjoy the French atmosphere or do some shopping. Sens is dominated by the Cathedral of St. Etienne which was the first Cathedral built in the Gothic style (circa 1140) Thomas Becket spent time here in exile from England and the Cathedral is justly famous for its stained glass windows. 

Wednesday, DAY 4 Sens to Provigs

We continue winding our way down, the river Yonne. Along the route that the Paris log floaters used. This afternoon’s visit is to the fortified medieval town of Proving where you can see knights jousting or Birds of Prey hunt.

Thursday, DAY 5 Provins to St Mammes

After breakfast, a scenic drive through the forest brings us to the Chateau of Fontainbleau. Known as the 'House of the Centuries', every French Monarch since Francois 1 to Napoleon 111 has left his mark on this magnificent chateau. We tour the State apartments and Napoleon 1st Imperial inner Apartment.

Friday, DAY 6 St Mammes to Nemours

This morning, a guided walking tour of Moret sur Loing and enjoy a village of flowers and towers, made famous by Alfred Sisley. We can stroll over the stone arched bridge and around the town much represented in the aquarelles and oils of artistes. A lunch cruise along the canal to . All the locks today are manual and you are invited to join in, it’s easier than you think and tons of fun.

Saturday, DAY 7 Nemours to Paris

After breakfast, we disembark and transfer you back to your hotel in Paris where your tour ends.

Golfing is also possible on hotel departures on own expense.
