Anacoluthe
A cruise on the Anacoluthe combines the comforts of a mini ocean liner with the

We meet at the Hotel Regina, 192 Rue de Rivoli, Paris 75001 at 15.00 (
3pm
) and transfer to Anacoluthe moored in
the town of
Compiegne
situated on the river
Oise
with a population of 47,000.
After a champagne welcome aboard, you have time to settle into your cabin
and maybe take a stroll in this charming town before dinner.
SUNDAY Compiegne
- Pont St Maxence
After breakfast, a guided walking tour of this
historic town. The Hotel de Ville dates from the beginning of the 16thc
and the cloisters of the Abbey St Corneille founded by Charles the Bald in 877. All
the French kings liked this area and came often for hunting.
There is an open market also this morning and there will be time to
explore before we return on board for lunch and cruise in the afternoon to Pont
St Maxence.
MONDAY Pont St Maxence
- Conflans St Honorine
This morning after breakfast, a visit to the Chateau
Chantilly
situated in the heart of 7,800 hectares
of land surrounded by the largest forest in the
Paris
region.
The chateau dates from the middle ages and has an art gallery of 1,000
paintings, 2,500 designs and 2,500 engravings,
second only to the Louvre. It
is also very famous for breeding racehorses and has one of the worlds finest
stables. The French gardens were
designed by Le Notre, there is also the Petit Parc, the Anglo-Chinese garden and
the English garden making this the most beautiful of settings.
Afterwards,
we continue to Senlis for a walking tour of this 2,000 year old town.
The city hall dates back 500 years, the cathedral is from the 12thc
and the Chateau Royale is 13th c.
There are many 16th c houses and medieval streets also.
We
return to Anacoluthe for a late lunch and a delightful afternoon cruise to
Conflans St Honorine, a waterways crossroads of the Oise
and Seine
rivers where we will see many working
barges.
TUESDAY Conflans
St Honorine - Rueil Malmaison
This morning, an early start to visit the house and gardens of Claude Monet, the
most famous of the Impressionist painters. Discover
the inspiration for his masterpiece “Water Lillies”.
The French government spends in excess of $2 million each year to keep
the gardens exactly the way they were before Monet died in 1926.
The simplicity of his house is surprising.
We return on board for lunch and cruise to the lovely town of
Rue
il Malmaison.
WEDNESDAY

il Malmaison - Paris
This morning, a visit to St Germain en Laye.
The chateau here was one of the principal royal residences and was
restored by Napoleon III. The 14th
c dungeon of Charles V remains and also the admirable Sainte Chapelle, a marvel
of 13th c gothic art. We
can discover the celebrated terrace 2,400 meters in length created by Le Notre
giving an immense panorama of the
Seine
valley.
Afterwards, return to Anacoluthe for lunch and an afternoon sail into the
heart of Paris. This evening, an unforgettable “Paris
by Night” cruise.
THURSDAY Paris
- St Mammes
This morning after breakfast and a short cruise, we disembark in Evry for an
excursion to the Chateau Vaux le Vicomte, built by Fouquet, the finance minister
of the Sun King and the model for Versailles. There
is an exceptionally well furnished interior and magnificent gardens.
We rejoin Anacoluthe for lunch in Melun and cruise in the afternoon along
a very scenic stretch of the river
Seine
to St Mammes.
Farewell gala dinner this evening.
