MONTGISCARD TO GARDOUCH
Morning cruise to Montgiscard, a hilltop village offering a fine view on the Lauragais valley wellknown for its Pastel flowers. Lunch close to the oldest washhouse built along the canal. During the afternoon, biking on the towpath or in the hilly countryside. Gardouch is the next Port of Call, a village dating back to the year 1231 and located not far from the town of Villefranche de Lauragais which has a typical Toulouse Style church; the church and the belfry are from 13th Century and are built with red brick.

From Gardouch, we cruise now to Port Lauragais, a museum dedicated to P.P Riquet, the inventor and the builder of the Canal du Midi (the much admired 17th Century engineer). After lunch, brief trip to join the "Col de Naurouze" which is 600 feet above the sea level and the summit of the Canal; visit of the area including the obelisque, the octogonal basin and the "rigole" bringing the water from the mountain to the Canal. Barbecue for dinner, petanque and also archery. .

Wednesday, Day 4
PORT LAURAGAIS TO CASTELNAUDARY
Cruise as we descend the locks towards Castelnaudary, home of "Cassoulet" a recipe made famous in the movie "Gigi". As soon as the barge is moored in the 'grand basin', we leave the harbour with the van to have lunch at St Ferréol along the lake which was built to store the water necessary for feeding the waterway. After lunch, visit to Revel, capitale of the marquetery and then wine tasting in the Cabardès area. During the evening, free time for shopping and discovering the city of Castelnaudary.

Thursday, Day 5

Morning cruise on the Mediterranean side of the Canal, a very "wild" part of the cruise in the middle of the vineyard and among genever, ash, poplar and plane trees. The next stop "Caux and Sauzens" will be also a relaxing place to have good time on the terrace. A day for bikers, hikers, painters or why not a day for snoozing in the hot tub!
