Trier to Koblenz
(Day 1) Trier
After being met by our driver you will be taken to La Nouvelle moored in the
heart of Trier, the oldest town in Germany, for a wonderful champagne welcome
and time to relax. Trier will take you back to the old Roman times from many
years before Christ. You will have time to explore the town, visit the Porta
Nigra, part of the old town wall and the magnificent St. Peters Cathedral.
(Day 2) Trier to Trittenheim
A morning cruise takes us from Trier to the peaceful village of Trittenheim.
Take a short drive to the nearby village of Piesport, where abundant remains of
the Celtic times may be found. Taste the famous wine, Piesporter Goldtropfchen,
at the cellars of Dr. Theo Haart. Visit the 17th century church of St. Michael
with its remarkable painting on the attic ceiling.
(Day 3) Trittenheim to Bernkastel
Exploring down this picturesque part of the Mosel, we reach Bernkastel, another
famous wine village. Here you will find the "crème de la crème" of
Mosel wines. In the afternoon, visit the private cellars of Dr. Loosen for a
sampling of his superb wines. Finish your day with a stroll around the village
of Bernkastel.
(Day 4) Bernkastel to Zell
Continuing down the Mosel we come to Zell, one of the most beautiful towns on
the Mosel and famous for its wines. Visit the cellars of Dr. Stein in Bullie,
just outside of town. Time in the afternoon to wander the beautiful town of Zell.
(Day 5) Zell to Cochem
From Zell we take a leisurely cruise past numerous vineyards and shopping in the
charming town of Cochem. In the early afternoon, we will drive you to the castle
Burg Eltz, also called the "Queen of the German castles" because it is
one of the castles that had not been destroyed by the French King Louis XIV in
1689. A guided tour takes you through this fascinating 12th century castle.
(Day 6) Cochem to Winnengen to Koblenz
A morning cruise through the lowest part of the Mosel, stopping in Winnengen,
one of the oldest and largest wine growing villages in the area. Continue on to
Koblenz, where you will have time to stroll the streets. Koblenz is most known
for its wonderful shopping. Optional visit to the old ruin of Ehrenbreitstein.
We then enjoy a lovely farewell celebration on board with your last remarkable
gourmet dinner.
(Day 7) Koblenz
After your great breakfast on board you will either be driven to the airport or
your hotel.
Note : The route is run
in reverse on alternate weeks and excursion days and mooring places may change
