DAY 1: BUDAPEST
Boarding at the end of the afternoon and settling into your cabin.
Presentation of the crew. Welcome cocktail. Dinner on board. Optional
traditional evening in Budapest.
DAY 2:BUDAPEST -
BRATISLAVA
Breakfast on board followed by departure for the
optional guided tour of Budapest, the belle époque city par
excellence, the incarnation of the sharp contrast between twin cities
divided by the Danube and united since 1872. You will discover: haughty
Buda with its winding streets, its Baroque palaces, its Turkish bath
establishments and its royal palace. And bustling Pest, which offers a
proud mixture of architectural styles. Return on board for lunch.
Departure on cruise at 1.00pm for Bratislava. Dinner and an evening's
entertainment on board.
DAY 3: BRATISLAVA - VIENNA
Arrival at Bratislava at 7.00am and breakfast on
board. At around 8.30am, departure for the optional guided tour to
Bratislava. Dominated in the north by the slopes of the southern point
of the Small Carpathians, bathed by the Danube, Bratislava occupies a
privileged geographical site. The charm of the Slovakian capital lies in
its old city: splendid Baroque palaces, churches and pleasant squares.
Back on board for lunch and departure of the cruise toward Vienne.
Arrival at Vienne in the evening. Dinner on board and free evening or optional
tour to Vienne by night.
DAY 4: VIENNA
Breakfast on board. Free morning at Vienne or optional visit to
the Schönbrunn Castle, summer residence of the imperial family and
part of Vienne, imperial city and cradle of music. Back to the boat for
lunch. Free afternoon in Vienne or optional visit to the Hofburg, the
Habsburg Palace houses the sumptuous imperial apartments. Return on
board for dinner and departure of the boat at around midnight toward Dürnstein. |

DAY 5: DURNSTEIN - MELK
Breakfast on board and arrival of the boat at Dürnstein
at around 8h, which you will explore with your hostess. The town,
steeped in the legend of Richard the Lionheart, contains an astonishing
abbey, dazzling with light blue and white, which has one of the most
beautiful Baroque bell towers in all Austria. Back on board for lunch
and departure toward Melk. Crossing of the wonderful Wachau where Gothic
ruins alternate with picturesque villages. The mildness of the climate
here is conducive to wine and apricot production. Arrival at Melk in the
middle of the afternoon. Optional guided tour to the Benedictine
Abbey of Melk. You will get the chance to admire the Baroque marble
hall, library and abbey church. Back on board, dinner, overnight stop.
DAY 6: MELK - GREIN - LINZ
Departure of the boat early in the morning. Breakfast
during the cruise. Sailing on the Strudengau feared in the past for its
whirlpools and arrival at Grein at the start of the morning. Grein,
a town dominated by its 15th century castle, is a jewel which conceals a
curious feature: the smallest Rococo theatre still operating. Free
time to discover the town at your own pace. Back on board for dinner
and departure on cruise for Linz. Arrival at Linz in mid-afternoon and
departure for the optional tour to the Baroque monastery of Saint
Florian where the composer Bruckner used to be a choirboy. Tour to
the basilica, the library and the marble hall. Back to the boat for
dinner. Departure of the boat toward Passau at the end of the evening.
DAY 7: LINZ - PASSAU
Breakfast on board. Disembarkation and end of our
journey.
