night sheltered water cruise through the
Highlands
of
Scotland
This
four night cruise on board the deluxe ‘Lord of the Glens’ incorporates the
highlights of any cruise to the Highlands of Scotland including a transit of the
Caledonian Canal from Fort Augustus and then across Loch Ness, Loch Oich and
Loch Lochy to Corpach (Fort William) which lies in the shadow of Ben Nevis.
From Corpach take the West Highland Line train to Glennfinnan (Viaduct)
and return to the vessel via the Glennfinnan
Monument
and Fort
William. From Corpach cruise
Loch Linnhe
and the Sound of Mull to
Craignure on the Isle of Mull for the visit to Duart
Castle
and
Torosay
Gardens
before driving to Tobermory
where in the meantime the vessel awaits our arrival. The cruise concludes with a
cruise along the Sound of Mull to Oban in Argyllshire. For convenience of
passengers a transfer has been arrange from and to Glasgow
and the vessel. The
itinerary also operates in the reverse sequential order.
Fort
Augustus to Oban
April 5 - May 3; Sept 23 - Oct 21, 2008
Day 1 Glasgow to Fort Augustus. Drive
from Glasgow
to Fort
Augustus
and embark the ‘Lord of the Glens’. Evening Captain’s welcome reception
and dinner (whilst cruising Loch Ness.) Moor Fort Augustus overnight.
Day 2 Fort Augustus to Fort William. Ascend
a flight of six inter-connected locks than runs through the centre of Fort
Augustus
and cruise various man-made sections of the Caledonian
Canal
and across Loch Oich and Loch Lochy to Banavie. At Banavie descend a flight of 8
inter-connected locks called Neptune’s
Staircase which lowers the vessel to Corpach (Fort
William.)
In the afternoon take the West Highland Line train to Glennfinnan and cross the
famous viaduct. Later see the Glennfinnan
Monument
and return to the vessel via Fort
William.
Moor Corpach overnight.
Day 3 Fort William to Tobermory. After
exiting the Caledonian Canal enter Loch Linnhe and later the Sound of Mull to
Craignure for the visit to Duart Castle andTorosay Gardens before driving to
Tobermory where in the meantime the vessel has positioned to await our arrival.
Day 4 Tobermory to Oban. Morning
reserved for independent exploration of Tobermory later sail to Oban in
Argyllshire. Evening Captain’s farewell reception and dinner. Moor Oban
overnight.
Day 5 Oban. Disembark
after breakfast and drive to Glasgow.
Parting of the ways.
