Vienna, Austria

The historic center of Vienna is rich in architecture, including Baroque castles and gardens, grand buildings, monuments and parks. It has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore this beautiful city of waltzes, cafés, classical music, parks, pastries and wine. Marvel at the majesty of St. Stephan’s Cathedral, crowned with a 450-foot steeple.  Discover its wonderful stone canopies, intricate altarpieces and Gothic sculptures; then climb the spiral steps of the tower for a magnificent view of the city. Vienna is also home of the famous Vienna Boys Choir.  The nearby Schönbrunn Palace and Gardens with its outstanding examples of decorative art. Bratislava, Slovakia

Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, is located at the foot of the Little Carpathian Mountains on the banks of the Danube River. A highlight of the city tour is Primate’s Palace with its remarkable gallery of famous European artists. Visit the Slovak National Museum and the Slovak National Gallery with their historical treasures.  Explore the majestic Bratislava Castle built above the Danube.  It was a frontier post of the Roman Empire from the 1st to the 5th centuries.

Budapest, Hungary

With her elegant Parliament Building and eight bridges, entering Budapest is the most breathtaking sight of all the rivers in Europe. Dürnstein, Austria

Dürnstein lies in the heart of the beautiful Wachau wine region.  See Kuenringer Castle overlooking this enchanting town.  “Richard the Lionhearted” was reputedly held prisoner there.  Stroll past many well-kept 16th century burgher houses as well as the 14th-century Klarissin Convent. During a walking tour, visit Collegiate Church and sample delicious local wines in a tavern.

Esztergom, Hungary

Marvel at the largest church in Hungary modeled on St. Peters in Rome, and visit the remains of the former Royal Palace. At Szentendre on the Danube Bend, visit the wonderful Margit Kovacs Ceramic Museum and the interesting Greek Orthodox church.

Grein, Austria

This charming Gothic village offers a picturesque setting on the banks of the Danube.  Visit the historic town theater, which is the oldest in Central Europe. Stroll to the city square surrounded by the town hall and the church. Explore Castle Greinburg, built in the Renaissance style with an arcade courtyard.

Melk, Austria

One of the most splendid examples of Baroque architecture in Europe, the magnificent Benedictine Abbey in Melk dominates the city high above the Danube River. Admire the famous Melk Cross, the Abbey Library and sweeping views of the river valley.
